Twitter corporate use has increased 250% 0
It seems that the use of social networking and collaborative applications for business purposes has skyrocketed in the last six month period. In the past six months, Twitter sessions established physically from companies has increased by 250% compared to those developed from a year ago.
But this is not the only amazing statistic about corporate use of social networking and collaborative tools: The use of Facebook also grew by 192% and the use of its chat functionality already exceeds instant messaging programs like Yahoo and AOL. Nevertheless, still cannot surpass Microsoft’s Messenger.
These are only some of the findings included in the fourth Application Usage and Risk, the biannual application study about the use of applications in corporate networks. The study also notes that blogging and wiki applications have increased their use in corporate environments in 39% compared to six months ago.
The report claims that the main use for social media is corporate purposes (although these tools are also used for personal matters at office) and reveals that due to this phenomenon, the bandwidth consumed by companies increased up to 48 times compared to six months back.
The study also emphasizes the need to increase security. It states that 70% of all 2.0 corporate applications utilized by organizations like social networks and other collaborative tools offer the possibility of sharing files, 64% has known vulnerabilities and 28% could spread malwares.
