Advertising on Social networks 2010 0

Some days back eMarketer released their latest forecast for social networking ad spending. According to them, advertisers will spend $435 million on Facebook this year and $605 million on 2010. Even do these figures implies 39% increase, they are quite below the $1 billion in revenue for 2010  TBI Research’s forecast .

It also interesting to see that Myspace outlook for next year is quite pessimistic. First of all, advertisers will reduce their ad spending from $490 million this year to $385 million. Secondly, their growth outside U.S. market will be close to zero, staying at $25 million

Apple buys “cloud music” Lala 0

Lala is a very exciting music streaming service. The San Francisco based starlet has been offering “music in the cloud” for the last four years.  Essentially users pay a small amount (roughly ten cents USD) for adding favorite music to their playlist that can be streamed anytime, anywhere without downloading it.

The business model changes storage capacity (downloads) for bandwidth (streaming). Also, the service is absolutely legal due to several agreements with most music labels.

Social researchers have studied and debate deeply about gen Y or digital natives (segment between 15-30 years) and their rapid embrace of digital technology. Neverthless, generation 2020 is the first group born into a full digital world. It’s like comparing learning a language in school with being a native speaker.

This generation is not currently part of the workforce but within a decade they will comprise 10%-15% of the workforce and and by 2025 they will be the largest generation at work.
